QUOTE
think Papana was better then Bazu Cantacuzino.

Iama

Papana was a military career pilot. Was good indeed, until he leave Romania for U.S. But Bazu made better training with his personal Bucker ( no fuel saving). And I saw footage with Bazu making the same maneuver ten times and was filmed on camera to check the mistakes. And the low inverted pass ( one of his favourite) I don't know if Papana could do it better. But Papana made in America an advertising show for an Oil Company taking with his left wing a small flag from the ground and for this achivement was kissed by two lovely ladies.

Dan.

QUOTE (Devil of the Sky @ Feb 7 2005, 01:33 PM)
But my Idol still remains the best fighter pilot with his record of 256 airplanes shoot down, Erich Harmann...

Hartmann final score was 352.

Cheers

QUOTE (D13-th_Mytzu)
Vaino Ilmari Suhonen who scored more than 94 victories in two wars, flying Fokker D.XXIs, Brewster B-239s and Messerschmitt Me-109Gs:

Source for pictures: internet  (do a google search to find out more about those excellent pilots - you won't be disapointed)

Actually, you're talking about Ilmari Juutilainen. Vaino Ilmari Suhonen only had 19.5 kills.

After quoting your message, I see the pictures do belong to Ilmari Juutilainen, the link to his photo is : h+t+t+p://hkkk.fi/%7Eyrjola/war/faf/juutilai.jpg.

Sorry for posting in a one year old thread, I just wanted to clarify this issue.
