In late 1942, the Rumanian air units were fighting nearby Stalingrad, very far away from Sochi.

I checked the large, red, two-volume official book on the Heroes of the USSR, p. 608, and the nationality of D. L. Kalarásh (sic!) is given as Russian.

Denes, I was just quotting was the russians were saying about him I dont have personal details on him nor ways th double check the truth . Most of the time the Russian records are inaccurate...as an example in many cases where pilots who were holders of the Hero of the Soviet Union order ,didn't not appear under Russian data base related to this medal , etc , etc beside it was a question as I wasn't sure about this issue
Though thanks anyways for letting me know Alex This post has been edited by alexkdl on February 06, 2005 08:41 pm |

Alex, I just posted what I found in the Heroes of the USSR "bible" (no pun intended). His name certainly sounds Rumanian, so the version you posted might the one closer to reality.
More info would certainly be welcomed. Gen. Dénes |
