Romanian State Leader and Supreme commander of the Army; Marshall Ion Antonescu appears to be wearing a German Pilot Insignia above his left brest pocket. It is round, with the Luftwaffe Eagle holding the swastica in it's claws.
Under what circumstances did Antonescu Recieve this award? Did he have flight Training? When was this medal awarded, and why by Germany? |

AFAIK, it was a complimentary gesture by the Germans.
Similarly, you can see the Rumanian pilot's badge on the tunic of several high-ranking Luftwaffe officials. I doubt anyone ever received training in ARR... Dénes |

I do not know the exact date of the award, but it was the German Pilot's Badge...
Source : Third Reich Factbook It was a present from the Reich's marshal of the Luftwaffe Hermann Goering. P.S.: A VERY NICE BADGE, ALTHOUGH! |
