Please help, I'm looking for references about General Mihai Gheorghiu (my uncle) mountain hunters. Unfortunately I do not have data about his activity during the WW2, I do not know exactly if he became general during or after the war. I found an information, on this forum, that he was for a while the commander of the 7th Mountain Battalion, as Lieutenant Colonel. He died in 1970.
A photo from 1943

Many thanks,
Alexandru

I notice that there are three stripes on the epaulet that means colonel, at that time. Please confirm the degree.
Thanks

Yes, his rank is „Colonel” and he is a recipient of the Order of the Star of Romania, Officer grade, on his right sleeve we can see two „wounded in action” chevrons. Regards!

Many thanks for all the details and for posting here the photo. I thought the chevrons are specific to mountain hunters uniform.
He also fought in WWI.

A photo from the twenties with one chevron.

In the first photo there are two chevrons, I understand that one is given during the WWI? Maybe it is a naive question.
Thank you

Yes, he was wounded once in WW1 and a second time in WW2.
In this photo his rank is Captain and he wears a M 1921/23 or a M1927 uniform with what appears to be a M1909 cavalry officer sword.

He also spots four awards (f. left to r.):
Steaua României de război (cu spade) cu panglică de Virtutea Militară în grad de Cavaler;
Coroana României de război (cu spade) cu panglică de Virtutea Militară în grad de Cavaler;
Crucea Comemorativă Războiului 1916-1918/9 cu trei barete;
Medalia interaliată a Victoriei;
