New book about ARR to be published!

from the present list of participants , the amount needed to print the book along with photos etc will not even in a life time be sufficient to really print the book .

Therefore a good operation praxis will be to first have the final cost estimate layed out on commercial offer from the printting company posted on here, all contributors list and their contributions be layed out on here before this contribution will commence...because otherwise payments will be sent and later on due to lack of sufficient contributors it may not be printted out at all....return of payments to all contributors it will be time and money consumming and is not worth doing it.

I therefore suggest, the final printing cost of the book ,number of pages and photos to be inserted on the book as well number of copies to be posted on here and of course the final roaster of the partcipants and their amounts should be finalised....as soon as this becomes available I will send the payment in cash as early as of June 2005 and through a registered envelope since bank wire transfer from abroad requires Bank fees which is not economical ....at this point in time I think is rather early to organise this effort when there are so few donners ...

Alex, what you propose is the ideal way of doing this thing, but from experience, the more we delay, the lower the chances to get the things done.

I think Mr. Iordache knows the estimated costs for publishing his book, and I ask C-2 to phone him and ask details, because C-2 seems to be knowing more about him than the rest of us.

However, if this particular book is not being published eventually, but donations has been made, I think the funds can be rerouted to the non-profit association we are setting up here (see the topic: WW2 Commemorative Enterprising Association). The main goal of this association will be book publishing too, so the money from the donations will be for a similar purpose, if the contributors have nothing against it.

At Catalin Floroiu's romanian language aviation forum are some recent mails with "Orizont Aviatic" magasine and Mister Cornel Marandiuc problems.

Mister Cornel Marandiuc needs help. Maybe some of us can give some help, in some ways. Some can give a financial help, others can give help at the magazine. I don't find yet the personal mail adress of Mr. Marandiuc, but if someone had that, let's write some encouraging mails to this man. At least, we can give him a moral help.

About Cornel Marandiuc: D13-th pilots from Bucharest gathered for some beers and also we raised money (some 1.200.000 lei) and sent them to mr. Marandiuc.I got a phone call from mr. Marandiuc thanking us for the donation, he is sick and so is his wife, as he already said he has a very small income, it would be great if other "pasionati ai aviatiei" would make a small effort to send him 100.000 lei

About mr. Iordache's book, we would really apreciate some more info on it shal I PM or email someone to get the info or will it be publically displayed ?

I finaly talked today with Mr Iordache;
His book has 365 pg.
about 150 photos
Everything is "Tehnoredactat" si Scanat.
Ready to be printed.
The subjest of the book is about ww2 romanian veterans.

But what is the estimated cost of printing? Didn't he spoke with a publishing house?

I already wrote ..
between 20-30.000.000lei for 500 copies.
