This is a picture with my grandfather and some oder soldiers. On the back side is written "aerodromul Tataia-1941". It's sure that this airplane is an JU-52, but I'm not sure if is romanian or german. In the right side of the picture on the wing is a mark, something like a "B".Could someone told me more about it! I-m looking forward to have some news.

The 'B' on the wing's leading edge indicates it's a Luftwaffe Ju 52, not Rumanian, as it was the airplane's identification letter.

While you posted interesting photos you forgot to mention the actual context of your topic...such as where is your grand dad located in all the two photos ?
Can anyone tell me where Tataia airfield was located secondly on why Luftwaffe chose to mark the JU-52 with ID letters at the wings leading edge..which is rather bizare ...and finally is the truck on the photo a Daimler Benz one and if Rumania received from Germany such trucks Al |

Tataia is near Mamaia in the north side of Constanta.
My grandfather is first from left in the picture with the aircraft, and posible to be the 3rd in one with the truck. |

Dan u've got a lot of hobbies, hopefully you have time left for your girlf and daily errands. Yes they all look Rumanians , I am still puzzled about Tataia airfield....was it used by the ARR and Luftwaffe jointly for air liftting or was afighter base too ?

As far as i know only Mamaia had an airfield in WWII. Maybe the airfield was close to both Mamaia and Tataia villages. For the first time i heard about "Tataia"village. Beside "Mamaia" (Grandmother) village and "Tataia" ( Grandfather) village could be also "Nepot" (Nephew) village in the area. Dan.
