Here is a incident that was happened in Romania in WW II about a romanian treatment of two Jewish officiers: In night of 30 september from a british plane two Jewish officiers (from Palestina)-Gedeon Jakobson and Joseph Hanay- were parachuted over Romania. Their mission was to spy against Romania. They were caught by Romanian jandarms troops, but the romanians didn't give them to germans, although they were Jewish. The two Jewish officiers was sent to Timişul de Jos' POW camp but on the night of 16/17 november 1943 they escaped. After some adventures they were caught again by Romanian jandarms in Doborogea when the two were almost passing to Bulgaria. But the romanians didn't punish them and gave them an advice about what was happenig if they were caught by germans or even by the bulgarians. The Jewish officiers were sent again to Timişul de Jos where they had the same treatment like american and british POWs. |

Regarding the 2 UK officers on clandestine mission over Rumania,if you will see my previous posts on Tidal Wave and others you will note that I remarked that the regular Rumanian Army treated well foreign nationals detained during WWII in Rumania....there were many jewish between pilots and airmen who bailed out over Rumania during the war either US, UK, etc. What I meant was something else completly. Why did this thread degenerate into this ? I only wanted to salute all pilots who fought in ww2 no matter of their nationality and also recommend you this movie... that was all.
