Hi guys,
The first, I made "mirror" because on the real picture we can see only his right side. You are right, the khaky it is better! another one "In spring 1945 it was adopted a rectangle heaving the 3 national colours diagonally placed" from trupele blindate din armata romana 1919-1947 photo p39 |

This is the way I see it from the right side of a PzKpfz IV Ausf J without the lower wire skirt.
The drawing is home made. PS The color of the tank is fade and the line is pixilated because it was transferred from Corel to Adobe. This post has been edited by mihnea on January 22, 2006 03:16 pm |

nox mentioned page 39 of Trupele blindate din armata romana 1919-1947. There is a photo there.

That picture is strange. Am I mistaken or does it show short-barelled PzIV? (Look especially at the second tank). I thought Romania only used the long-barelled version? |

The two PzKpfz IV in the picture have turret skirts, and no PZKpfz IV with skirts ever had the short 75mm gun. Romania did receved from the German army, on the eastern front in early 1944, at least one PzKpfz IV Ausf. C (with the short gun). There is a picture of this tank and a PzKpfz III Ausf. J, in the book "Trupele Blindate din Armata Romana 1919-1947". |

Some sources sustain that Romanian Army received 10 german Panzer IV tanks armed with the 7.5cm L/24 cannon, Models D, E, or F, those being sent to Romanian 1st Armoured Division in the fall of 1942. But in the other hand can be just a missidentify of those vehicles as long as RRA received 12 Pz III Ausf N in the same period. Now knowing that Pz III Ausf. N used the same gun as Pz IV Ausf. A to F1 and the profile is quite similar is very possible that those 10 Pz IV (D, E, F) received in 1942 to be in fact just Pz III Ausf. N. But still can be some chances to be indeed Pz IV. |
