Hello,

There are I understand , photos of the P51 used by Cpt. Cantacuzino.
Firstly of one named "Sleepy Ann" numbered "71" and another "Sweet Clara II" that was also noted as just "Sweet Clara" numbered "90".
Can anyone scan these and post to me .Thanks.

Also, just to add a little on "Sweet Clara II" she was the aircraft assigned to the 319 Fighter Squadron of the 325 th Fighter Group serial number 43-24857 a P51B-15-NA that was first named as "Dorothy II" after the then pilots wife , pilot was Major. robert M. Barkey.
It later was used by Russell Elliot as " Sweet ClaraII".
Artwork on the port side of engine just in front of cockpit was a large circle with blond lady with ribbons in her hair and an arm accross herforhead.
"Sleepy Ann" was the mount of Clint Lightfoot was also a P51 B or C and was at one time numbered "88"and could have been P51B serial number 42-106977.

Did they when used by Cantacuzino wear Rumanian Air Force Markings.
i.e, the roundel over the star leaving the bar visible ?

That would be niceto see.

No, the P-51s flown by cpt. av. Constantin Cantacuzino did not have Romanian markings. Only the Bf-109G with which he went to Italy initially had American stars and flags painted on it.

be careful with profiles of that 109! Most of them are wrong! IIRC even some of the Rumanian made ones! Anyway a/c was nicely covered in many publications (books and magazines) and IIRC Ventura Decals produces decals for this a/c in 1/72

Hello Victor,
thanks for the prompt reply regarding this very interesting a/c!
Please notice that I have few magazines and book(lets) where it's images have been published and if you wish I can supply you with the scans when I come accors the sources in my library (for your own reference). In case you would like to post them to the website I might suggest either making some kind of water mark over the images or contacting copyright holders...
My email is milosh@tpbbdo.com.cy and if you are interested please let me know.
Also please notice that the a/c was discussed on both LEMB and ex-AAW forum!
cheers
Misko
