It would be helpful to mention the operation.

I need this for general understanding on how ground war worked, but lets say the retreat from Stalingrad in late '42 eary '43.I read "Romanii in Crimea" and I am reading now "Romanii la Stalingrad" but it isn't very helpful without a visual aid, all I get is: Division A was set to hold 15 - 20 Km of front between point X and point Y, I have no ideea how the big picture really looks. Also when retreating, how was a new frontline established (rivers, hills, towns, roads, bridges, etc.) did the fightings go near roads or totally offroad, etc. A military map showing ground troop positions, possible directions of attack, "relief", etc. would help me a lot to understand things better - this is why I wanted 2 - 3 consecutive maps.

To find handmarked maps of Romanian troop movements isn't that easy. Know of only 1 person who has handmarked maps of Romania showing German troop withdrawl but can't find his email. Have plenty of maps and a few actually marked from Leningrad to the Caucasus. Suggest going to local flea markets to the 70-90 year old sellers and ask around for veterans.
