I'm not sure about that. Usually more than one village could have the same name in Romania. Cioara could be Cioara- Doicesti (SE Ploesti) |

Excellent find, Cantacuzino!
OK, I guess it's a high probability that Lange was Goebel's first victim. It is possible that the other 109 that crashed near Maiul was shot down by another 308th FS pilot in the first few moments of the air battle. Then Goebel drifted east, shot down Franke near Cazanesti. Does the same map provide any clues as to where "Cherasui" is? Perhaps this could be Goebel's third kill? My girlfriend is from Cazanesti, and i asked her if is something like Cherasui near his town. Is not. Maybe was named in that way some time a go, and now have a diffferent name?
Also "Maiu" appears to be "Malu". Iama |
