You can also look in this document: http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/documents/fi..._pages_1-27.pdf In it, it says "Quantities of Lend lease shipments - item - motor transport vehicles truck - total --- USSR - 433,967. (page 6) The other problem is the total soviet truck and other vehicles production. Was it 200,000 or over 1 million, or maybe 2 million? Like I said my source uses as references a soviet author and argues it was 200,000 for the whole war period. Now I would like to see some relevant quotes or proof of data from that article that Alex H used. -------------------- I

In this case you have his email adress on the webpage I mentioned and can easily ask him if you are interested.
Like I already said, production figures aren't too relevant for the impact of LL trucks. Number of trucks in use is, however, because it shows what was actually employed in the combat opertions. Many LL deliveries took place when the war was practically already won or even after Germany capitulated. Take for instance the P-63 King Cobras who did not see any action with the VVS in the European conflict. Thus, they are irrelevant on the outcome of the operations. |

Since I dont have mr. Vorsin's article (or copy/scan of it) to see for myself what is in it and what are the presumable errors of mr. Alex H, I probably wont. I'm busy these days with college exams anyway, so I dont have time to search for that Vorsin article. A quick google search has lead me to nowhere, sometimes not even basic data about the author appeared. It would be nice if you or anyone here could get a hold of that article and compare it with what's on that page. Maybe that is a fair analysis, but everything started from the production figures, when I said the soviets produced 200,000 and LL gave them 400,000 then you said the numbers are wrong and linked to that page. I've read some omteresting articles about the way the soviets used a lot of the LL products after the war, integrating them in the soviet economy. The allies sent a lot of equipment hoping that would alleviate soviet suspicions regarding the slowness with which they opened a second front. take care -------------------- I
