On 1 august escadrila 45 lost an IAR 80 (destroied acording to "Vanatorul IAR 80 istoria unui erou necunoscut") at Bolintin Deal.
Can somebody help me find more information about this plane?

Thank you in advance.

It doesn't appear in the losses list at the end of the book. WHen you talked with people in Bolintin, did they also mention a IAR-80?

Vasile Tudor mentions that out of the six IAR-80C that took of at 1330 hours, one entered a spin in the clouds and recovered at around 1000 meters. It had lost contact with the other 5 and returned to the airfield. It took off a second time and followed several B-24s flying at 300 meters, attacked them, but his cannons and machine-guns jammed. I think it was adj. av. Ion Bosinceanu.

Out of the other 5, during the descent to 100 meters were the bombers were, one experienced problems with the landing gear, which came out during the flight and remained in this position. It had to go back to the airfield.

The other four attacked the bombers and two of them were damaged by defensive MG fire.

Maybe the one that crashed at Bolintin was the one with the landing gear problems.
