One of the great weaknesses of all the Romanian books I have so far seen on WWII is is the poor quality (and often complete absence!) of good maps. It is impossible to write really good operational history without maps.
Can anyone recommend a Romanian atlas or other book with good operational maps of Romanian campaigns on the Eastern Front? Many thanks, Sid. |

The most satisfactory maps I've seen in the Romanian military history books until now are in Eliberarea Basarabiei si a nordului Bucovinei 22 iunie - 26 iulie 1941 and Pe tarmul nord pontic 17 iulie 1941 - 4 iulie 1942, both by Editura Fundatiei Culturale Romane, Bucharest 1999.

Hi Dragos,
Thanks. Both books are in the British Library. I will order them through inter-library loan. Cheers, Sid. |

Don't expect something impressive though. There are b/w sketches for some of the operations, but pretty detailed. However, the books are an excelent source of information for the covered periods.
