The "Enciclopedia...", currently in the works, written by the site owners, together with Ioan Buiu, seems quite interesting. I hope to see it published soon.

Many new photos were added.
Ruy, from what I understood the enciclopedia is finnished and it will also be translated in English. The only problem regarding its publishing is, as always, lack of funds. |

Do you have more information about the plane CV-GOI bearing the name "Regele Carol II"? Who owned it? Why did it bore this name? What was it doing in August 1931 at Los Angeles?

CV-GOI was an EMSCO B-3A (E. M. Smith & Co.) airplane, made in the USA, in Long Beach, CA.
The enclosed photo shows it while still in the USA, prior to being delivered to the Rumanian customer. This particular airplane performed a long-range flight between Bucharest - London and back, with Octav Oculeanu at the controls, between 9 - 15 Sept. 1931. The EMSCO was owned by ARPA. Perhaps King Carol II was the honorary president of ARPA... Interestingly, the registration CV-GOI was already allocated on April 27, 1931. It was later on changed to YR-AAS. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on July 19, 2005 11:52 pm |
