I couldn't find any info on Cpt. Ioan Ratu (only Bratu). Also no Cpt. Radu is in my database. Can you give us some details, please? Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on July 20, 2005 11:15 pm |

All I know is a peacetime Gold Cross of the Virtutea Aeronautica Order received in 1931, when he was a 1st lieutenant.

Cpt. Ioan Ratu died in plane accident in 1938. His name is written on plate (north side ) of Statuia Aviatorilor. His doughter is Arh. Liliana Belea. She show me some pictures and documents with his father. I will contact her by phone and i will ask her the permission to put his father biography on the forum. There is no Cpt. Ratu Ioan killed in 1938. However, there is a Cpt. Ruta Ioan, who died on April 17, 1938 (interestingly, another source gives the date of his death as Dec. 10, 1940). He crashed during a test flight, while flying an I.A.R.-made airplane. It would be interesting to know the airplane type and serial number. Gen. The Plane as far I as heard was a "Avioneta" probably "home made".
That's may be the reason of not having much details and a serial nr. |
