I found this on sinodefence forum. Well, a powerfull giant will be send to second line. A more powerfull and agile... one "mosquito" will be "the one". So, western thinking style is the winner! That means... we will see an uniform concept? Was more interesting to observe different concepts... Iama |

IIRC the original Mi-28 was bested in comparative trials by the rival design Kamov Ka-50. Why the Russians choose to further develop the Mi-28 instead of the Ka-50 is puzzling me.

Well from years i follow the news about this contest, between Ka-50/52 and Mi-28/N. It is surprising. Kaov also developed this two-seat version to counter sceptics vision over the one-seat hellicopter... I saw in Mi-24 a superb hellicopter. Sure, is not one dedicated to attack - is more like an assault/multirole hellicopter. Maybe they will work at least for a while, as a team. Both types. Like Apache or Cobra and UH-60 in "gunship" settings. Iama |

it was all about politics... When Ka50 won the completition , Mil started to say twin rotor is not battle proven, that single pilot is not that good etc.. Russia tested Ka50 in Checenia and they where very happy about it.
