Communists were not idiots, initially (a huge part of them were foreigners, non-Romanians); they just re-wrote our history on Moscow's recommendations.
Stupidity came after 1965, when Soviet presence in Romania was no more and the spirits were calmed. Only in the late 80s our war against USSR was mentionned, and that in a sery of volumes published in 1989. But it was a little bit too late to say the truth; this process should have begun in the 70s. |

If comunists were not idiots how do you explain the practicaly analfabet soldiers that were promoted to high rank oficers, and carier oficers were dismissed and send to jail?
I'ts the same as stalin distroyed the russian army in the early 30's! From every two ARR pilots I know, one did time in jail. That's clever? If Romania would have been involved in a war in the early 50's,it could be a defeat like the Ugandan army(lead by Idi Amin, another analfabet,)recieved from the Tanzanian army in the 70's. The diference between the comunists and the nazies is only by that that the Nazis promised a car for every worker and the Comunists a watch! |

Early communists represented Soviet interests in Romania... So it isn't a suprise if they destroyed the ancient and most experienced part of the ARR.
Yes, Romania's army was very weak and desorganized in the 50s... But our big sister from the east had liberated us, and know we had her protection, so no need of an army! After what I saw on Western TV, Idi Amin Dada was a very good and capable soldier, even if ANALphabet ! Propaganda is still very strong against him, as she is against Antonescu... For example, come extremist Jews declare that under Antonescu, some 500.000 Jews were murdered (that's what Illya Ehrenburg said too). The Western countries reproach a similar thing to Idi Amin, with the 'extermination' of some 500.000 civilians... The war with Tanzania could have been provoqued by G-B, for example, who had no interests to recognize a free and anti-Commonwealth Uganda. Tanzania (and Kenya) was under Anglo-American influence, and it is today too... Those countries were chosen by terrorists as targets against American interests. That was my 2 cents (~500 LEI )...
hehehehehe... Like it or not, the nazis made of Germany in some 6 years a super-power... |

I honestly had no idea how many ridiculous things you Romanians were subjected to in that time period.

Yes Panzerking ,you are right but still seen nothing yet!
And about Idi Amin beeing a capable soldier,I agree with that but an amalfabet capable soldier cannot rule a country as Ceausescu a semianalfabet and a low life worker could not rule a coutry! At least cannot rule properly. I hope Getu you'll agree with that. |

I'm not a simpatizant on Adrian Nastase but I can tell you that he is a well educated person and speeks fluently 4or 5 languages and has a degree in law and economy.
