There is an interesting article on www.mapn.ro on the frigate. The cool stuff is that in short movie there is at the begining a small glance at the Delfinul Submarine.

The frigate "Regina Maria has arived today to the Romanian port of Constanta. Photos from the event can be seen on the page of the Romanian Navy.

The frigate "Regina Maria" is the second Type 22 frigate of the Romanian Navy. The other one is "Regele Ferdinand".

The captain of Regele Ferdinand is Comandor Sorin Learschi
user posted image

The first captain of Regina Maria has been Căpitan Comandor Valentin Borşaru. He has been dismissed following his handling of a mutiny/strike of the crew. Following Borşaru's dismissal, the interim captain who brought the frigate to Romania has been Comandor Sorin Learschi.

It seems like the price that had been paid for RM was very hight for a ship that old and who suffered damage during the Falkland war.

And how could that have happened since the war was in 1982 and the ship was built in 1987?

The person who told you that it was built in 1980 didn't know what he was talking about. The rest could be invented as well, until serious proof is shown.

The HMS London (Regina Maria) was built in 1987. The HMS Coventry (Regele Ferdinand) was built in 1988. See here, for example: http://www.hazegray.org/navhist/rn/frigates/t22/

I would suggest we stick to more serious conversations on this forum, than "a friend told me that..."

Oh boy. I am having a déja vu, but let's try to bring reason into this dicussion:

QUOTE

First of all, nobody said that the ships are new. I have just pointed aout the fact that the information your friend told you regardng their service in the Falklands and corrected the eronous dates you provided. As to their look of WWII veterans, I can provide you with WWII destroyer profiles if you haven't seen one until now. You can notice the differences for yourself as they are more than obvious.

Do you have any sources for this claim? Any facts?

Regele Ferdinand is presently on its wasy to the Mediteranean, where it is going to be subordinated to a NATO task force.

The whole idea behind the aquisition of these two frigates was to have on on operations, one of reserve and the third in overhauling.

Btw, the Regina Maria (on the right) looked fine to me one month and a half ago, off the coast from Constanta.

Can you actully check your sources?

D-118 Coventry was sunked by Argentinian A-4P's . But that was a type 42 destroyer.
the F-98 Coventry was commisioned in 1988 and was a type 22 batch 2 frigate.

Yes, it is very well hidden. That's what I call stealth! Wait, there's an AA installation visible, that's not good!
