Interestingly the Romanians are wearing the older ST1 helmets and not the new American ones.

Could you detail this a little further? The Romanians are changing (again) the standard helmet, while, as Tomcat have said, the Dutch-Romanian model (steel, 1973) is still widely used? Do we have to do the things as superficial as that, on every time?

Do you have some more info about the ST 1 helmet you’ve mentioned? Was it a completely original (Romanian) design or it was inspired/copied by/after another model?

I think the ST-1 one was Israeli origin. It sure look like Israeli's helmets.
The new one can be from various origins. Many countries have helmets that look like that including France, China, etc

Agarici, the ST1 predates the new kevlar helms, designated ST 4 I belive. There is also the ST 2, an ST 1 with a transparent plastic visor, used by pioneers and MPs.

You can see the ST 4 in any photo with Romanians in Irak or Afghanistan (only during the first tour of the 26th Battalion they had ST1s).

I noticed that too, but did not want to say anything. tongue.gif

His right hand looks OK from what I can see, but the left.....eek! Now that they have seen the President do it, every kid in Romania will think it is OK to shoot an M16 that way.
