Here's another example of very bad taste (although it's not in the Ghencea Cemetery):

Funar (a man still in his '50s, I believe) listed all his scientific titles and his position as mayor of Cluj on the pink marble headstone. This tells all about just what kind of man he is...

No, he's not dead (he said he still hopes to live another 50 years! That would be optimistic even for me...)

And why would I be off-topic? You started the thread and you yourself posted a photo of a grave who doesn't belong to an airman or that was profanated.

How do you know that?
It must have been someone in thatgrave before the hero was put inside.

And you think Valter Roman was buried in an empty grave? How can you be so sure that a WW1 or WW2 soldier wasn't taken out to make room for the Communist hero?

That's it. Here is what I found on him:
Date Type Nr. Unit Crew Place Cause Notes Source
20-Nov-42 Potez 63+ slt. pil. Emil Pasniciuc+ Pipera acc. venit de la Odessa, prabusit la ater. Detalii?

Can someone confirm this, incl. the date of his death?

And guess who else is resting in the Ghencea Cemetery.

O.K., I understand that Comrade Neuländer needs a resting place somewhere, but what does the cross do on the top of a convinced (not convicted!) Communist's grave? sad.gif

Gen. Dénes

What does a cross on the top of a communist grave? Maybe the same thing it does on top of a nazi grave. ...

Nazies accepted the church while comunist denied it and transformed churches into barns and sent priests to the gulag, so I think the question is legit: if he was a comunist and fought for that cause, why would he betray it in death ?

Maybe the tomb was redone after '89 when a cross was added. But is just a wild guess.
