Well, like Dragos 03 said he was a hero since he went to Spain to fight for what he belived.
And that's something.

There is a Soviet heroes cemetery near Aurel Vlaicu metro station. There was also the Communist mausoleum in the Carol Park. At least Adrian Nastase's father was a member of the Romanian Army.

And guess who else is resting in the Ghencea Cemetery.

O.K., I understand that Comrade Neuländer needs a resting place somewhere, but what does the cross do on the top of a convinced (not convicted!) Communist's grave? sad.gif

Gen. Dénes

Wasnt Roman's father jewish? Why isnt he in the jewish cemetery? (so he wasnt?)

The Soviet cemetroes were closed after 1945.
Valter Roman died in 81.
Maybee he had changed his religion.
Remember that there was a Chatolic priest who candidated for the Vatican and was a former jew?

Every year,as we got to the comemoration at Alexandru Serbanescu's grave we see more and more damage to the cemetery and to the graves.
Last year there was a part of the alley made the personal property of adrian nastase's family.
This year more news;

Look how some guys bribed other guys and made themself a warm grave in the middle of the alley. Now visiting nearby graves ,especialy by elderly people is a nightmare.

In this place was resting Costica Lungulescu.
Now he's out in the garbage and some "new aristrocratic family "-the paslaru that must have origins in some forgotten village ,made a nice grave for trhemselfs.
I hope they WON'T rest in peace.

You all know my opinion about these kind of happenings concerning heroes graves...The ONCE institution and MApN should hear and take official stand in order to prevent such barbaric acts to happen.
(In Valenii de Munte ww1 war cemetery, something very similar happened some years ago)
But in Ghencea Military Cemetery's case I would do something else. I would relocate every real hero in a place where no one can interfere and let everyone else who consider themselves "heroes" to "use" G.M.C.
