The victories belonged to the airplane. There were several pilots that flew it most likely and achieved 13 claims. Btw, the IAR-80 replica in the National Military Museum is of vno. 42. Maybe it is time to repaint it in the ore-1944 markings.
The photo is a well known propaganda photo. I have a Romanian book published in 1941 with this photo, too. |

That is lt. av. Ioan Micu.
Interestingly, this photo is also in the book I have, as is the one C-2 posted on AHF, with the fin full of kill marks belonging to a Luftwaffe ace. |

The book I have, like I wrote ,is in Italian. There are some mistakes (I asked an Italian )and that sugests that itwas written and printed here in Rom.
The book is in very good condition, but misteriosly it misses the front cover and first 9 pages. The ideea is that most photos published in the book are found also in Sorin's Tulea album. It is posib.that there are photos taken by him in the book and the pages that are missing may have been distroyed by him in order not to leave "marks"... |

My book is called Aripi Romanesti in Lupta and was written by cdor. av. Alexandru Demetrescu, the editor of the Aripi Romanesti magazine. The text is propaganda, but the photos are of relatively good quality, although some are pretty well-known. |

Give me the tail number (hopefully cut off the photo) or a date and I'll tell you the details.
Anyhow, it happened before May 1941. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on November 09, 2005 09:26 pm |

It looks like the "roundel" or "Michael cross" was overpainted on this He 112. It could be one of the He 112's still used for trainings in '45-'46 on Giulesti and Popesti Leordeni airfields ?. |

I doubt it. First, the three-colour national markings is missing from the fuselage, which should be there if the photo was taken post-Sept. 1944. Second, the narrow, coloured mid-fuselage ring is typical to warplanes seen in late 1940, early 1941.
I believe the photo was taken in early 1941. Gen. Dénes |

Could it be one of the He-112 used to shoot that movie in 1941 ? I saw a picture at Dan Antoniu with a group of He-112 strangely painted and he explained they were shooting a movie where the he-112 played the bad guy |

Those He 112 were grey cammo with black stars ( because the movie was B&W ). |
