It is the german instructor Lt.Peter Petersen. Near his plane IAR 80 nr 77 at Galati fighter school. With this plane lost his life in a force landing on 21-05 '43.

You can visit his grave in the 'Pro Patria' Cemetery, in Bucharest (Block F, Reihe 2, Grab 25).

This photo, the story and the photo with no. 77 burned after the crash have been published in Vanatorul IAR-80 by Dan Antoniu and George Cicos some five years ago. |

You are right Victor. One of the best book for IAR 80 history. But unfortunetly only in romanian language. We hope in the future will be available the upgraded version in english. |
