hello,I am trying to found some information about Romanian Ju-87d-5 no.14 which crashed near Biskupice (Luhacovice district) in the Czech republic at 29th april 1945.
I managed to found that the pilot was Paul Lazaroiu survived and board gunner Constantin Popescu died. the plane probably belonged to 74. picaj group 8 asalt. In town memory book is also the name of the plane, It is "Ubetar". Does someone know as if is possible to found some photos of the plane or the crew member? Thanks for your reply Georg |

Thank you Mr. Denes for you reply,
I tryed to found some photos of this plane or crew, do you know where I can find them? Before three weeks I visited the crash site north of Biskupice (Luhacovice district) One man found there the 20 milimetres cannon. We found only the wings from the 50 kilograms bomb, some pieces of radiator an a lot of imunition. The dead crew member has a monument on this place, If you want I could sent you some photos from this place. I want to ask you, what is the word "Ubetar" or "Ubatar", isn´t it the nickname of this plane? And I will be very obligated to you If you could tell me, as If possible to found the werk nummer of this plane? Thank you for you reply Regards Georg |

Hello Liberator,
I found a pic of Number 14 "Romanian Black Hussars" book written by Jean-Louis Roba and Cristian Craciunoiu published by Modelism (owned by mr. Craciunoiu). The book is in english and I think can be ordered via internet, try www.modelism.ro At page 39 there is a picture of this plane and a note "On 20 October 1943, plane no14 is severely damaged in a strafing. It will be sent to the rear and will never come back in Grupul 3." |

Mytzu, the No. 14 of Gr. 3 picaj you mentioned was a D-3. The one that crashed in Moravia a few days before the war's end was a D-5, i.e. another airplane.
I found a photo of No. 14 in 1945 and the inscription on the cowling is <<LDD "86" Jeana.>> 'Jeana' is a girl's name, but I have no clue what <<LDD "86">> means. I will try to scan the photo and post it here later on. "Ubetar" or "Ubatar" doesn't mean anything. How do you know this was written on the cowling? Gen. Dénes |
