Let's go there at the opening!
Well take some vets with us too!
Could be fun.
I still cannot tell where the place is.

Ungheni we already have (it is east of Iasi on the other side of Prut river). I think I also located Rabnita but for some reason I cannot see it in my list. As for the otehrs, if they are in Basarabia, do you have their original name (the romanian one) instead of the russified one ?

Todoreny - Todoreni/Tudoreni ? - Take a look at Places in Moldova that start with To or Places in Moldova that start with Tu.
Stefanesty - Ştefăneşti - There are three such places in Bessarabia (Places in Moldova that start with Ş).

03. Kotovsk

Mytzu, your map is for Kotovsk, Russia. The Kotovsk in Bessarabia is now named Hânceşti/Hînceşti.

And, to make matters worse, there is also a Kotovsk in nowadays Ukraine at 47:32:43N 29:38:40E.

Sorry Mytzu, it is still Kotovsk, Russia. It appears that the address of the page does not change when you choose to view the map of another location. I suspect the same happened for your Stefanesti. Your link is for Ştefăneşti in Botoşani county.

Then I would like to point out that there are several others locations bearing the name Ştefăneşti on the left side of the Pruth as well (at least according to Places in Moldova that start with Ş).

That is Kotovsk, Ukraine. Hânceşti (formerly Kotovsk) in Bessarabia is the one marked on the map below.

Ungeny must be a different Ungeny, I believe. Because in Ungeny, this happened:
Ml.Leit. Atrashkevitch Fiodor *1916 Shot down by AAA near Ungeny on 26.06.41.

Was definitely not near TirguMures, I think it is this places:
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/MD/56/Ungheni.html near Pruth river...

Todoreny, Romania was a VVS-AF in June 1944

Semjonovka, Odessa region was a VVS-AF also in 24.06.41. Mabe this:
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/MD/0/Semionovca.html
if it is on the east side of Pruth

Chizovo, Odessa region was a VVS-AF also in 1941, maybe this place:
http://www.fallingrain.com/world/UP/0/Chizhevka.html

I think we can get it together all rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif .
