Thanks,
any ideea who was Principele Mircea?

I think the question is "what" was this society.IIRC,Mircea was the 6th child of king Ferdinand.Principele Mircea died when it was only 4 years old.Fever(typhus I guess). This charity org. (Soc. Principele Mircea) was founded by Mrs. Bratianu (wife of Vintila Bratianu). You can look at it as an orphanage.Yes,in fact it was something like that.

Principele Mircea was the 4th child of the King Ferdinand of Romania. He died in 1917 at age of 4 (four), by typhoid.

Are you sure he was the 4th?

Cipiamon, the medal you have found is very rare.Very few of them were made.
I am not sure if this orphanage was the same with the Principele Mircea hospital in Buftea.
On a general note,Principele Mircea foundation was not only a shelter. It was supposed to help orphans and poor children obtain some scholarship to attend some educational institutes.

It was an old hospital near by, 1 km far from this place, is an old hospital, i remeber Marin Ghica was taken there after the crash, is verry near (i was also born there tongue.gif )

I informed the local amator arheologists, maby they will give me more details in the weekend when i will go there.

Also last year in the same place i found another medal verry similar to this only it was smaller, but i lost it there...

Thanks for the info!

The gossip of the time said that Prince Mircea was in fact the son of Barbu Stirbey. wink.gif
