Okay perhaps an odd place to pop this question but considering the Romanian angle I will give it a try. Does anybody as information on a Soviet officer Nikolai Kambria who served with and perhaps as commander of a unit called 1st Romanian Volunteer Rifle Division in the 53rd Soviet Army in August 1944?

Kind Regards

Colonel Nicolae Cambrea was the commander of 1st Romanian Volunteer Division "Tudor Vladimirescu". Before, he was the Chief of Staff of the 6th Infantry Division, and was captured at Stalingrad.

Initially, in September 1944, the TV Division was subordinated to the 33rd Soviet Corps, 7th Guard Army.

Brigadier General Nicolae Cambrea was decorated with "Mihai Viteazul" with swords 3rd class, according to the Royal Decree 3232/11.11.1946.

That makes sense. He was received again in the Romanian army only in 1945.
