We gonna load fuel insted of bombs.
But I belive that we have no chance negotiating with the Americans.
All because the Romania Airforce chief is named Catrina....

You are not serious ...

The damn plane is not ours for many years... They obtained it when US was an enemy of Romania...so is Captured material...I don't give a rat ass on that Ju-88... I do care about National Bank treassury that is in Russian hands...Not that we would ever see it..

Anyway... the US can do a thing ..
"Here is you damn plane was in storate for 60 years... We mantain it... We recondition it... We transport it... So here is the Bill "

For sure, I don't wanna pay for that damn thing... do you?

We don't pay a damn thing! What we'll do is to sneak Gral. Stoian in the museum.I will search for the plans. Also we need a mechanic or two to check the status of the machine.Engine will just do it.There is a takeoff spot there.Should be enough. I will have an xponder and we will report in as a Cesna. From there on we will have to improvise.

It is well known that after 70s, US returns to West Germany a lot of panzers and planes displayed now in many German museums.

The main problem with this Ju 88 is that it isn't a Romanian manufactured plane. Therefore I doubt that ever the US will return to Romania.

And speaking of possible bill, how much will costs? 1 milion USD, 2 million? It seems that nobody cares to maintain even those few WW2 tanks in the Military Museum's yard...

Nobody wants to pay anything but anybody wants to grabs all of things!

I don't think the Daytona museum is willing to sell the plane. Better ideea it'an exchange ( if it's posible) with MIG's 21,23  & 29 , IAR 93 and so on ( from romanian air force ) wich anyway we scrap them from time to time.

I'm sure a Ju-88 is more valuable to US museums than the various MiGs you mentioned. Quite a few US allies have been selling or giving those away in recent years. Ju-88's are much harder to find.

I remember one movie ( Iron Eagle III) with similar subject.

And I've gone all these years thinking Iron Eagle was fiction. laugh.gif

There is actually an aviation museum in the US where all the aircraft are flyable. It's the Owl's Head Transportation Museum in the state of Maine (their web site). Several years ago my family rented a summer house near there. I was out on the balcony... heard a single engine propeller aircraft and expected a Cessna or something...looked up... and a bright red Fokker DR-1 was flying down the coast. It was a seriously weird moment... my family looked at me like I had seen a ghost, and in some ways I had.

When I went to the museum, I saw Douglas DC-2 warming up on the ramp. They also have an Austrian Etrich Taube, which turns by flexing its wings rather than with flaps and a rudder like a normal aircraft. The Taube was not flyable at the time, but I believe the plan was to make it flyable.

In addition to planes, they also have old cars.

So what we have so far (to offer) for this trade:

- One nonflyble IAR 80 in perfect condition ( the blue velvet on the seat it's still new biggrin.gif ).
- Personally I have for trade a Tidal Wave B-24 compass in perfect condition ( it's still point Ploesti direction wink.gif )
- Mayby Cip could also trade his Tidal Wave B-24 turbine wheel.
- From Military Museum we could also trade the Sherman tank ( half of the price because need some restoration wink.gif )
- If we found the P-51 Mustang burried in Comana lake i think we could put it also on the list.
- I have a friend who live in Chitila district. I could ask him to dig in his garden to find some unexploded bombs from spring '44 U.S. raids over the area. But i don't think that Daytona Museum is willing to recover U.S. Air Force WWII bombs for display biggrin.gif

I wait for other sugestions for the trade.
