Today ,at the not very popular B1TV was a documentary about the White -squad.
I belive most of us know about it at least a few things. I almost couldn't belive my eyes that a woman in her 20's flew 2221 missions in extreme cond.and often under fire. |

You (or probably the producers) misunderstood. She could not have flown 2000 missions during the war. It was most likely the total number of flights she made.

As a sidenote, the wartime pilot with most combat sorties was probably Oberst Hans-Ulrich Rudel - arguably the best combat pilot ever - with 2530 such flights performed, most under severe circumstances.

Looking in the official arhives for the book ESCADRILA ALBA - Modelism 2002, I found this total of flights for all the squadron and not for only one person.

That would make sense. Anyway B1TV had a good initiative with this idea. Maybe they will look into other related subjects aswell. |

No one mentioned that the "White Squadron" weren't the only voluntiers in the ARR:very known names like Bazu,Ion Ghica ,Polizu Micsunesti, and the Brancoveanu brothers were also voluntiers and fought in the war from patriotism.
Some people will say that Bazu considered the war as a sport.... |
