60,000 russian soldiers took part in the First Campaign 1994-1996.
Official data puts the casualties at 3,826 KIA, 1,906 MIA, 17,892 WIA.

90,000 russian soldiers took part in the first 3 years of the Second Campaign (1999-present).
In those first 3 years (1999-2002), the casualties were 4,572 KIA, 15,549 WIA.
Apparently after 2002 the number of casualties has not been updated.

Hi Imperialist,

The statistics for the number of Russian troops used looks suspect.

Are you sure that they are not force levels? I suspect that several times as many men passed through Chechenya during the two conflicts. For example, the number of Americans in South Vietnam peaked at about 500,000 but several times as many passed through during the entire conflict.

Cheers,

Sid.

I presume that generally when this kind of numbers are given they referr to the force level, not to the number of men who cycled through there.
