Does anyone know who was the first Romanian military killed in action on 22 June 1944?

My grandfather remembers that following the radio announcement of Romania entering the war and the speech of Antonescu, the name of the first KIA was also announced.

In the early stages of the anti-Soviet war, Monitorul Oficial (the Rumanian Government's official gazette) published complete lists of casualties (it stopped this after a few weeks).
You may check the pertinent issue of MO for the respective name (I extracted only the names of the airmen KIA), although I cannot remember if the losses were listed chronologically or not.

If they were shot down over Soviet controlled territory, where they confirmed as KIA from the first day?

My grandfather told me the shock they felt on June 22, 1941, when comrades fell shot, and died. This way they discovered the difference between training maneuvers and the real war.

If I remember right, the first Romanian casualties on the ground were before reaching the other shore of Prut river.

I have found the following information in "Spre cetatile de pe Nistru", ANVR, Bucharest 1996.

The first officer officially reported KIA was 2nd Lieutenant Armand Ioan Petrescu, of the 3rd Călăraşi Regiment.

About the first mission against the soviets, the target was Izmail. There were used IAR 37 as bombers. One of the planes was lost. An intresting article on this event. [romalian language only]
