questions

First question:

I bought a model kit plane (Hasegawa, 1/48) of an Hurricane MkI in Romanian colors. The decals are for the planes No 3 and No 1. For the Agarici plane (no 3) the number on its tail was green or yellow? The kit have bothe numbers in yellow.

Second question:

I found Munteanu's plane decals (no 327, Hai fetita). But i do not know where the plane had its blue colors (sign of the 60 sq.) Only in front of the plane's nose, also to the "conul eliciei" (i do not know the proper term in English... the think in front of the propelor).

Hi BM,
The Hasegawa kit is inaccurate in many ways. The propeller is not correct for a Romanian Hurricane. It should be a deHavilland propller with narrow blades The kit has a Rotol prop). The main wheels should have 5 spokes. The decals are also inaccurate, especially the "Mounted Mickey" that looks like a caricature. The 6 crosses should all be the same size. The underside colours are wrong - the underside of the fuselage and the underside of the tailplanes should be silver dope. The underwing numbers should be pointing in opposite directions. The tricolor on the "Yellow 3" rudder should cover the entire rudder instead of the tip only. The yellow numbers are correct.

I do not know Munteanu's 327 "Hai fetita". (Is that the Bf109?) What decals are they?

Munteanu's 327 is for the Hasegawa Hs-129B-2.

Aha, now I get it.
The Hs129 from Hasegawa is OK, the only problem is that the crosses are wrong - the kit decals have crosses with a black border instead of blue. Pity because the crosses are correct in size and shape. The EagelCals decals are a shame and should at best be ignored (or at worst set on fire )

Radub, you just answered one of my question about Romanian Hurricanes in your first post in this thread. The deHavilland prop will be hard to find!!!!!!!!!!

the most irritating thing about Hasegawa (which actually shows how shoddy and careless their research was - a Hasegawa specialty it seems ) is that they actually have a Hurricane MkIb in their catalogue, which is the type the Romanians used.
This version of the Hasegawa Hurricane has the deHavilland propeller/spinner and the 5 spoke wheels.
They released the kit with these features under a few guises such as "Finnish Air Force" and "MkI Trop", but these are discontinued now.
If I were to make a model of a Romanian Hawker Hurricane, I would start with the "Finnish Air Force" version and procure the decals from somewhere else. The The Hasegawa "Romanian Air Force" Hurricane kit is not a good starting point. http://www.hlj.com/product/HSG09609

Well, I would never beleive all those problems with Hasegawa. I know it exists a 1/72 kit of the same plane but only in few numbers. As I brought the 1/48 model I will built that one. Still, my question didn't found any answer. Agarici plane had No 3 painetd in yellow or in red?

As for the Hs 129 B2, still do not found any answer. The spin (for the Romanian speaking personns - sa fie "conul"???) of the propellers and the aircraft's nose were painted in blue?

The Agarici plane No.3 was painted yellow like all 15 Hurries in romanian service.
Some sources give it red but probably due to wrong reading of ortocromatic pictures .

For the wheels, I intended to get a resin set from Ultracast (www.ultracast.ca). For the prop, I will try to exchange it to one of my friend (or buy the Finnish kit...). The decals seems to be really hard to find especially if your not looking for German or American subject!

But, thanks to you, now I know what I need for my Hurricane!
