WW1 art exhibition at the National Military Museum

On the 20th October, at 1 p.m., at the National Military Museum will be inaugurated a temporary art exhibition dedicated to Horia Boamba, a Romanian officer captured by the Bulgarians at Turtucaia in 1916. During his captivity in a POWs camp in Macedonia, he produced hundreds of drawings (portraits, landscapes, etc.). Some of them will be displayed in the exhibition.

During the inauguration a few members of the 6th Dorobanti Regiment re-enactment group, wearing WW1 uniforms and weapons, will present arms and perform a few drill movements to commemorate the soldiers who bravely died in WW1.

Any ideea about the hour they will gonna do the drills?

By the way, any ideeas if the new ww2 section that they were thalking about at the begining of this year is ready?

I’m very sure the exposition you are talking abut has been opened for more than a year now.

I went there, but it looks like the festivities were made before 13.00
But it worth it, i really loved the drawings!

Some aspects of the inauguration of “Horia Boamba” art exhibition at the National Military Museum, on 20th of October. Unfortunately the opening was one hour earlier than it was previous announced.
The re-enactment group of the 6th Guard Dorobanti Regiment “Mihai Viteazul”, performed some drill movements and presented arms to commemorate the soldiers who died in worldwide wars.
A short chamber music concerto was also played by “Philarmonia” orchestra (Enescu, Mozart). The art exhibition will be opened until the end of November and displays drawings and sculptures made by this military artist, and some items of that period uniforms, equipment and a sword.
As concerns the re-enactment group, the uniforms are repros but the equipment is original. The fire arms: M.1893 Mannlicher rifles were provided by the Military Museum. The M.1902 infantry colour is a copy, as is the eagle, ring and the pole. All members wear the Group medal, issued on 10th of May 2005, a variant of M.1880 “Military Virtue”, 2nd class, heaving the Group name on the reverse.

Yes the festivities were at 12:00. Pity you mist the chamber orchestra that was really nice.

Is the guy from the right side of this picture, a russian?

Yes! Some foreign military attaches (Russian, Greek, American, Moldavian) were also present at the event. They stayed in front, near the reenactment group. That's why they are so visible.
At all Military Museum activities foreign military attaches are also invited.
