Well, this is juat one that has been passed down in my family. I don't have any proof of this, it is all just complete heresay, but it comes first hand from my gandmother who lived through it.
My grandfather was serving in the Romanina miltary while the Solviets were cruising through Romanina. He was sent home for a short rest. While there a police officer came to my grandfather and told them that the local communist group had made a list of all villagers that were serving in the military. He told my grandfather that he was on the list, and that he (the police officer) had been ordered to arrest him and my family. Since he was a good friend of the family he decided to risk his life to warn my grandfather. My grandfathers family split into two groups and took seperate trains to go to Austria. When my grandfather arrived with my grandmother, her two sisters, and my grandparents three kids, they waited and waited for the other half of the family to arrive. When the train finally arrived the rest of the family was not on it. After asking other people on the train, it was discovered that the train had been stopped not long after leaving , and searched by Russian soldiers. The half of the family on that train was pulled off along with other civilians, never to heard from again. Those on that train included my great grandpa, two great uncles, and a great aunt from my grandfathers side. My grandparents searched for them for years, but never heard a single thing about them again. BUt like I said, this is all just heresay from my grandmother mainly, but also collaborated somewhat by my two uncles (8 and 6 at the time), and my father (4 at the time). |
