Soviet paratroops conducted an air descent ten or twelve miles north of Bolgrad on 29 June 1940.
Each soviet parachute brigade had both an air descent and an air landing element. The latter usually required an airfield on which TB3 transports could land to discharge light tanks, artillery and motor vehicles. Does anyone know if the Soviet descent north of Bolgrad was onto an airfield or in open country? Many thanks, Sid. |
