Isn't the last grave of Lt. c-dor av. Alexandru Popisteanu, C/O of Gr. 7 vân., KIA on 21 August 1941?
A better quality scan would certainly help... As for the first grave, I doubt a fallen Rumanian airman would have such a sloppy grave (unless he fell on the enemy's side). Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on November 02, 2005 02:06 am |

C-2, in the second picture it doesn't look like a grave. It must be only a commemorative cross for the place where was shot down Gr7 Vt. leader Lt.comandor Alexandru Popisteanu. |

No, the propeler it's not from an IAR 80 . The pitch of the blade is from propeller rotating to left (viewed from the front). The IAR 80 propeller is rotating to the right. It could be from a Bf-109 E ? . |

Denes was right.
Another photo with the commemorative cross for the place where was shot down Lt.cdor Alexandru Popisteanu. On the cross is writen: " AICI A CAZUT EROUL Lt.Cdor. ALEXANDRU POPISTEANU IN ZIUA DE 21.VIII.1941 " Photo source: the book "G.A.L. la eliberarea Basarabiei si cucerirea Odessei" Modelism |

Because the general shape ofr the first 2/3 of the prop looks like a Stuka prop and because on the cross I see something similar to an ammo belt. |
