Is there any Romanian book about 1941 operations in Basarabia and Odessa ? I see Denes posted this:

QUOTE
Try: 'Odessa, 1941-1944: A Case Study of Soviet Territory Under Foreign Rule', by Alexander Dallin. Hardcover, 296 pages (May 1998), publisher: Center for Romanian Studies, Rumania. ISBN: 9739839118.

Mind you, it's not a pure description of the military operation to conquer Odessa in 1941, but rather a sociological-historical study, focusing on the post-Oct. 1941 era. However, it's well worth reading it.

Is the book still available, or does any of you have the book and is willing to land it ? (I treat books well smile.gif ).

Do you have "G.A.L." ( Gruparea de lupta aeriana) book published at Modelism Edit. ?
You can find operational maps from that perioad.

No I don't - do you have it ? I guess one can no longer find it in libraries.
I am also very itnerested in the ground operations, something similar to "Romanii in Crimea" or "Romanii la Stalingrad" would be great.

I was there some 1 month ago and looked at all books in the store, I did not see something similar - if I did I would already have it smile.gif
Can you post a pic of the cover pls ? Who is the author and when was it published ?

Ahhh wait a second.. you wouldn't be talking about Craciunoiu's 1 milion lei book ? IN this case they had it but I won't buy it due to exagerated high price (but as I recall it had a different name).

I have seen it at "Noi" bookstore, near Intercontinental hotel. The price is around 50 RON (500,000 ROL).

That book is not a Rumanian book, but was published in Rumania.

For the same topic, you may try the following Soviet-era book (in English):

Author: Krylov, N. I
Title: Glory eternal; defence of Odessa, 1941
Translation of Ne pomerknet nikogda.

Ask Dragos for details. wink.gif

Mytzu, you're in luck. I went today at the Mihai Eminescu bookstore to look for the book on Marshal Averescu. I haven't found it, but ended up buying three other books. biggrin.gif Anyway, I saw they had several copies of the the following work, which is 6 years old:
Rotaru J., Burcin O., Zodian V., Moise L., Maresalul Antonescu la Odessa, Editura Paideia, 1999.

It gives a good overlook on the siege of Odessa. It was in the bookstore at the basement, in the History corner (on the right, after you enter). They had at least 7-8 of them.

Between 10 and 20 RON. I bought mine quite a while ago, so I don't remember exactly.

Also from a shelf above I bought at 12 lei - Rotaru J., Zodian V., Moise L., Oroian T.Antonescu-Hitler Caucazul si Crimeea, Editura Paideia, 1999 (ISBN 973-9368-34-4). Still one copy left!
