Hello,
I try to make a list of all ship lost (sunk, captured, grounded, scuttled ...) in WWII (Civilian and Military ship) For Romanian i find this : 1 Sep, 1944 Oituz and the captured ship of this topic : http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=1138 But what about ship during the war ? Did someone help me ?? I have more than 6000 ships ever in my list. |

Hi Webmastersignal,
If you want a detailed Romanian-language book you need to try the three volume history of the Romanian navy in WWII by Koslinski and Stanescu. For a shorter English-language overview, including a list of Romanian merchant shipping losses, you need the final chapter of "Third Axis, Fourth Ally" by Axworthy, Scafes and Craciunoiu. The Romanian merchant marine was almost wiped out in WWII, but the navy got off relatively lightly, considering the overwhelming strength of the Red Navy in the Black Sea. Cheers, Sid. |
