Excellent photos and great job covering the event Victor! I just checked the Ministry of Defense's website and they only got 5 pictures so far.
Now I have a few questions about the military equipment. What happened to Romania's TR-125 tanks? I read that the army has a certain number of russian anti-tank guided missile systems (9K113 and 9K11) but I have never seen a single picture of these being in use by the romanian army. Same for Spike, which is said to become the main ATGM system.. Does anybody have pictures of these? I saw in one of your photos Victor that the Romania Army has A-95 low-altitude surface to air missiles (mounted on BRDM-2's), but what about long-range/high-altitude SAM's like SA-2, SA-6? thanks |

I only heard 5 before leaving the Arch area. There may have been more, but we were heading towards Victoria Square, away from the guns. As for the 30th Guard Regiment, I would like to add that there is book called De la tiraliori lui Cuza la Brigada 30 Garda that covers the history of the Romanian guard units pretty well. Btw, the initial name of the unit was tiraliori. The vanatori term was adopted a couple of years later. The present-day 30th Guard Regiment has its roots in the Republican Guard Battalion created after the overthrow of the Monarchy. Prior to that there were several units with official Royal guard duties: one division (2 vanatori and one infantry regiment), one horse guards regiment and one palace guard battalion. Plus several other units that were guarding the palace from time to time, like the 4th Rosiori Regiment. |

And they had 6 of them (I photographed only half). The Gendarmerie had only one. |

deadmanwalking,
I don't know what happened to the TR-125s, but I don't think there was ever a considerable number of them. The MTB of the Romanian Army was the T-55 and the TR-85. We had only a few T-72s and local built TR-125. This is why they chose the TR-85 for modernization, not the T-72. The parade wasn't meant to show all the Romanian arsenal as this would have costed probably more and it wasn't necessary IMO. |

Actually not. The Geandarmerie allso had a couple of vans passing just before SRI. I don't know about your side of the road but on my side they were crewed allmost all by female geandarmes. (But they were not so "eye catching" as the SRI ones - must have been the uniforms) |

Unfortunately they gave up the white socks of the mountain troops. An 89 year old tradition down the drain. |

Now a personal curiosity: have C-2 and Imperialist met at the parade? And, if yes, more important: who've won?
