Ah! I take it that you didn't do the army at the mountain troops They are a pain. You get (depending who you know) 3 pairs. If you use only these in about a month they are quite yellow. In the summer and even in the fall they are again a pain. Yes, is that hot. The boots are one of the best during winter. Summer time they suck, too heavy and too stiff. Lots of us used to wear the kaki stuffs and keep only the upper part of the boot white. That was done using a cut pair of socks. Maybe a compromise would be a better idea, but I'm glad for the guys they got rid of them. Something less to worry about. Yes, they had to be white all the times. We even got a neck stuff which was white. Wore that stuff when some big doodoo from the HQ was visiting us and being bored he thought a parade in the interior court won't be a bad thing. After all, the troops just came out from a 50km march. |

They were also carrying "staff flags/standards" (two of them - one yellow and one red - are visible in the background). When were they introduced? |

Better images of the "staff flags/standards" are available in the photo album of the Ministry of National Defence.

Imperialist; That's really a great shot, imo, especially with the fog "effect" and the (implied?) symbolism. Thanks to all for the pics..was next best thing to being there! (which I should be b4 the snow melts, this winter!) imo, the photo contest is a tie for first place between Victor and Imp, with Victor maybe having a slight edge because of the interesting crowd shots (kids, gypsies, etc) and of course getting that beautiful- woman- in -uniform shot. cheers, FB |

The church is the Casin Monastery, one of the most beautiful and largest churches in Bucharest. A very good place for organizing a wedding.
Photo was taken a couple of weeks before 1 December. |

Thank you Flyboy! Yes, I intended to make it a symbolic shot. I took 2 photos, and posted one of them here. I have more pictures from the event, but they are mostly the same as Victor's only from different angle (except the kids and gypsies). The picture with the Church behind the trees and the one with the Arch are some of the few I took of "non-military-equipment" stuff. take care p.s. not much snow here, in fact its pretty warm for December. -------------------- I
