You can get a permis for "Arme De Panoplie"(arms that cannot fire due to the "extraction"of the fire mecanism.
The only question is from where you'll buy the arms? unsure.gif

Personally I don't think it is allowed to own WWII weapons even if it is "Arme de Panoplie". I am interested to collect but I think that I should settle close to the Western Europe to buy and own WWII weapons! rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

K let's say that you know where to buy the weapon from and if you have a "Permis de portarma" won't that be enough?

I don't think a weapon license for a gas-operated pistol or a hunting license allow you to own a MG-42 in working condition rolleyes.gif

As C-2 said, I think the weapons have to be disabled (firing mechanism extracted or barrel filled) in order to legally own them.

You have to registrate the "arma de panoplie" in your licence.

How about for a submachinegun or a rifle or a pistol?

An old rifle that cannot fire,it's more easy to registrate.Never heard about a mg,and I don't know where you can get one...
In my opinion those laws are stupid, because anyone can make an artizanal rifle.

I agree. Let's say you own a MG 43 or a soviet PPS, where do you get the ammo from to fire such a weapon?

You probably mean MG 42. MG 43 is a modern machine-gun made by HK and it fires 5.56x45 mm ammo.

The PPSh-41 fired 7.62x25 mm ammo, which can still be bought even from the Internet.

Teh MG-42 fired 7.92x57 mm ammo, which I also believe there is still available for a price.

Well,I understand that the main problem are small guns, that can be used in criminal activities.
I don't think anyone will go robbing a bank with an mg 42 or a Bren.
With a Colt .45/1911,a Walter PPK or other WW2 revolvers you can be a real danger to the police force armed with the "famous"Carpati.

I never meat robing banks or other stuff like that, but I think that if you are a colector and buy a fire arm I guess that you would want to fire with that gun some times not just keep it like a museum keeps it. Guns were made to be used not to be looked at. I DO NOT say that you should go and use the fire arm in ilegal actions, I'm saying that you coul do on a shooting range to fire your WW2 weapon.

Yes there are. But there should be some rules/lows on the possesion of WW2 weapons.
Some time ago I've heard on the TV that there is a law (or a law project) that alowes any citisen to own a fire arm (a pistol for example) and for high placed officials the weapon can be even a AK 47. I ask you why do some idiots from the senat are alowed to own a AK 47 and a simple man only a 9 mm pistol?
