Hi to all,
i 'd like some help to indentify from the 2 pictures wich is Sgt. Dimache. In my opinion the two persons in the pictures doesn't match at all. The one from the left is from "Vanatorul IAR 80" book and the picture was taken in january '44 on Popesti Leordeni airfield with the 6thFG pilots. And the second picture is from "Modelism magazine" and the picture is taken from an school airfield ( probably Turnu Severin) with the pilot in the PZL 11 cockpit probably in '42 or '43. Sgt.Dimache was shot down by 31FG Mustangs ( his chute failed) on 23 june '44. Any help would be great. Thanks,Dan. There were more than one pilot called Dimache in ARR. For example, there were at least two fighter pilots, both of them 'aces': Adj. av. Constantin Dimache of Grupuri 4 and 6 vânatoare (10 victories), KIA on 23 June 1944 and Adj. av. Ioan Dimache of Grupuri 3 and 6 vânatoare, also with 10 ARR victories.
Maybe the confusion originates from this. Gen. Dénes |

Thanks, Denes. Probably you are right. So the pilot in PZL cockpit should be Adj.av.Ioan Dimache. Do you know when he was in 6thFG ? And wich of the two has victories on PZL 11 fighters ? Dan. |

Both have victories in 1941 while flying on P.11 fighters. Adj. av. Ioan Dimache (of the 43rd Fighter Squadron/3rd Fighter Group) claimed 4 I-16s and one bomber, while adj. av. Constantin Dimache (of the 46th Fighter Squadron/4th Fighter Group) claimed one bomber.

The pilot in the PZL 11 cockpit it's not Sgt.Dimache but Slt. Calous Ioan (or Jean). It was indentified by Dragos Stinghe who was (in aviation school) colegue with him ( "Promotia '42"). The picture was taken probably at Calarasi airfield when they made transition to PZL 11 fighters. Jean Calous picture courtesy Dragos Stinghe. |
