From the right: Adj Panait,Dobran and Panait's mascot-Gusty the shepard dog. The day Panait was killed in confruntation with the USAF,aprox.the same time, the dog got very agitated,he began barking and running around. Nobody knew that moments that his master just died, and tried to catch him. In vain.Gusty run away yelling, and was never found again. This post has been edited by C-2 on November 17, 2005 07:36 pm |

Ion Galea's dog Gil ,on the right. Was an amazing dog. He had 47 missions on his master plane. In one ocasion, when an ARR pliot was showing around with his combat missions,he was asked by Galea, how many missions he has. When hearing the answer,Galea said;"Even my dog has more missions then you..." In one ocasion, after an emergency dive,Gil"s ear drums broke, and he became deafh. In Mai 1945,Galea met his to be wife,Clara. When they left Hungary the dog was left at her parents house. Clara Galea told me that they had to close him into the house while leaving. He jumped thrue the window and got a lot of cuts.It had to be locked in the basemant in order not to run after the truck. |
