You do not have a photo here to show us the badge. I do have an example of an observers badge in my collection in which the CII cypher is not cut out. On the reverse side is engraved.

I have an example of each of these badges in my collection. It is interesting to note that the F1 version with the red enamel is a cast piece. I have always questioned the one that I have because it too is a cast piece. I also have a pilots badge F1 period from same manufacture with red enamel. I am finding more and more aviation badges of the late WW1 and early 1920's period that are cast pieces and appear to be genuine. The pin set up and age patina also appear to be of the period.

Wow , you're right ! Silly me , I didn't pay attention , I tought the cypher is in red paint , but I was wrong . I took a closer look and indeed it's red enamel. 10x for the tip!

This card is also interesting, because it proves that Aero-Clubul Regal al Romaniei cannot be abbreviated as ARR - as somebody pointed out, erroneously, in the 'Romanian Royal Aeronautics - correct or not?' thread. Thanks, Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on January 02, 2006 03:01 pm |
