I spent 16 RON on this book and i want to warn others, don't make the same mistake. The book is "Generalul Ioan Emanoil Florescu, organizator al armatei romane moderne" by Radu R. Florescu, Ed. Militara, Bucuresti, 2004.
The author is "profesor emeritus" at the Boston College and the head of the Eastern European Research Center. Yet, he doesn't know almost anything about the history of Romania. The book is full of innacuracies and unbelivable mistakes. For example, the author claims the "calarasi" were not cavalry units (in his opinion, they were foot soldiers). He also claims the mountain infantry units were created by Gen. Florescu and Prince Cuza (he confuses them with the "vanatori" units, which were light infantry units). There are many other mistakes. The book itself is a mixture of various data, much of it without any historical importance. Some very important events are only briefly discussed, while unimportant facts are covered generously. The author is a relative of the general. That is why he finds ridiculous excuses for the General's actions in some cases. For example, I. E. Florescu deserted from the Wallachian Army in 1848, during the revolution, and joined the Russian Army. The reason found by the author for this shameless act of treason is that Florescu just wanted to have some field experience (!). The book quotes a very extensive bibliography. But, given the huge number of mistakes in the text, it is obvious that the author didn't read even a quarter of these sources. In conclusion: do not waste money on this book.
