The second book is written by a WW1 knight of the "Mihai Viteazul" order.
Mihail Vagaoanescu was a lawyer, a reserve "locotenent" in the 6th company, 27 Inf. Regiment Bacau, 7th Infantry Division. His unit fought in the offensive to regain Transilvania (in the Reghin area), the final battles for the Jiu Pass, the retreat to Moldova and the Marasti offensive, when he was severely wounded. He describes the further battles of his unit, based on informations provided by other officers. Mihail Vagaoanescu won the "MV" 3rd Class for his personal leadership of the assault that took the Csiphes-Bicaz mountain against heavy opposition. The book includes day-by-day descriptions of all the actions, lists with all the soldiers in his unit, several maps and pictures. It also mentions several chemical attacks against his unit. |
