That's a great news. Can you tell us more about the book?
Where did the 3rd co-author disappear?

There was a third one, called Boiu or something similar. He was mentioned on Mr. Antoniu's web site and included on the cover, too, before it was changed to the current one.
However, since the book was published without him, it doesn't matter any more.

FOREWORD

Efforts have been made on large scale lately to produce historical monographs on the achievements in the aeronautical field. As regards the Romanian aeronautical developments although the issue was of interest for those who wanted to write a history on the subject, their work was somehow limited to pointing out the peaks. The Romanian achievements in the aeronautical field remained unknown both at home and abroad and this is perhaps the reason why the Romanians have not been awarded their well deserved place in the world aeroanutical history. At this point, the authors of this work have assumed a most difficult task and responsibility to produce a monograph which tried to observe the pure historical truth and to correct the errors made until now. In fact it is the authors belief that these errors were caused by the limited access to information sources. The present work is the result of a minute team research activity which focused on the Romanian and foreign official records including also private records which resulted in a tremendous volume of information, some excessively detailed other concise, yet of importance.
The authors want to present all this information to the readers, particularly to those who are passionately fond of the aeronautical issue as well as to the researchers thus offering them the possibility to make comparisons and to identify priorities at a limited and larger level of the world aeronautical creation.
In March 2006, Romania will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the world’s first mechanical flight performed by the Romanian Traian Vuia. Despite the importance of the event no complete documentation on this subject has been produced and world acknowledged as yet.
The study of the documents that were discovered will reveal preoccupations for the aeronautical field on the side of both known and unknown people. The Romanian aviation forerunners included a great many people who conducted fundamental studies and research work in the field , delivered conferences and published the results of their research activity but more important they designed and manufactured airplanes and engines at their own expense, spending their financial resources to the last penny. As a result they were forced to abandon their work and actually remained anonymous. In our efforts to write this work we were pleasantly surprised to rediscover these people who remained anoymous so far. In writing this Encyclopedia we considered it our duty to present these people to the readers if not for anything else but for the mere fact that at a certain moment in time they had principles which turned out to be valid over the years.
In June 1910 the Romanian inventor Constantin Marinescu reached a conclusion which is worth Mentioning: ’’There is a total lack of interest in the aeronautical field on the side of the authorities’’, a situation which in his opinion had to be improved. In a report on his invention addressed to the Ministry of War he was stating the following: ’’Flying machines should be considered practical and necessary inventions rather than sports or curiosity objects”.
In September 1910, the same inventor resumed the issue in a report addressed to King Carol 1. Regarding the development reached by the aeronautical inventors at that time: ’’The studies carried out so far are complete. Only time and experiments will help mankind penetrate the secrets of this dark empire ’’. But people will grasp the meaning of these words later on. All these new and yet ‚’’old things ” for us, nowadays , must be brought to light from the dusty Chronicles and files and reproduced as written, heard or spoken. Many of the writings of those days will seem to us magnificent utopia or baroques fantasies, others will be worthy of our regrets for having not yet been materialised.
The authors leave it entirely to the readers to draw the conclusions regarding the real value of all these attempts made in the aeronautical field and trust they will certainly be indulgent in their judgement avoiding the current technical approach. Faced with the present achievements, these past inventors would have certainly had different reactions and perhaps many of them would have abandoned the study and would not have achieved anything . Let us imagine, for example, how ignorant we shall appear in our turn, in the eyes of the future generations and that they may speak of us in high terms sometime.
We are aware that we have not managed to reveal all the information of the archives which would have enabled us to praise all the Romanians who were preoccupied with flying who designed and produced airplies and tried to fly them. In our work we presented inventions and designs that were materialised as well as others which remianed in the design stage. We considered that all of them were of a particular scientific and historical value, the difference consisting in the inventor’s financial capacity to achieve the work.
In the early years the appointed commissions verdict on certain inventions or achievements was quite often the wrong one. This was due to the lack of knowledge in the field presented by the inventor who had the advantage of his own thinking and research in the respective field , for instance the vertical take-off planes which were recognised later on for the reason that they were a fantasy hardly understandable.

They just lend their printing presses. This way they make extra profits. They don't do the editing.

Same issue was with the authors' previous book, the one about the I.A.R. 80. AFAIK, the authors' did the editing themselves, Modelism only printed the book.
