I also went there today but i had a very different experience:

1. I entered the museum before the official opening. Apparently the guards thought i was an airforce student (even if my long hair was an obvious hint that i had nothing to do with the military). The officers inside were very helpful in answering all our questions about the airplanes. After that, they asked us to leave (but in a polite way) and come back when it's officially opened.

2. I got in the minister's way several times, because i wasn't careful. Nobody pushed me away.

3. Surprisingly, nobody said anything when we examined the exhibits, entered the radar truck, played with the AA guns, etc.

4. I liked the fact that the official opening was very brief. No long speeches.

5. Overall the new location is a huge step in the right direction. The museum's commander told me that in 2 years they will open 3 more hangars and they will add a store with books and other materials.

6. A very nice wartime movie was played on a TV on the museum floor. It included some great footage from the siege of Odessa.

I need some informations about the current location of the museum. AFAIK those are the hangars from the old Pipera airfield where Flotila 1 had its hq. Is this correct ? Can someone please provide more info ?

Found out that Centrul de Instructie al Aeronauticii (CIA laugh.gif ) was based also at Pipera.
Can someone pls confirm if Flotila 1 Vt. was based at Pipera and for how long was its hq there ? Also any other infos that will highlight the historical importance of Pipera Airfield is most welcome !

Here are some more infos about Pipera Airfield, source: Tudor Greceanu - "Drumul celor putini"
(translation will follow some time after)

QUOTE
[...]
