Strange, it doesn't mention any authors.

An author is mentioned on the cover; however, the scan is too small, I cannot read it.
Anyhow, I ordered the book and will let you know the details when I'll receive it. Gen. Dénes |

The name Mihai Filipescu appears on another site: World War Two Books.

Hi Guys,
Europa books cover a lot of subjects not found elsewhere. On these grounds alone they are worth looking at. However, some contain outrageous piracy of illustrations from books published in Eastern Europe and are often chronically badly edited. I would bet good money that this book will contain unacredited illustrations you have seen elsewhere. I suspect they bank on the US legal system being too expensive to make it worthwhile for foreigners to prosecute them. Particularly good is their book on the Hungarian Army of WWII (by Niehorster?). I recommend it strongly to Romanian readers, who will not get a better view of the army of their country's historical rival. None of their other books is as clearly authoritative and well produced. My bet is that, if the author of the Romanian book is unknown to Romanian posters here and the book is only 100 pages long, it is likely to be a compilation of material from earlier published works. At that length it would be a small miracle if it was anywhere near as good as the Hungarian Army book. I await Denes's review with interest. Cheers, Sid. |

What about the book on the Slovak Army, by Mark Axworthy? Although I haven't seen it (yet), it should also be a reliable reference book, based on the author's reputation. As soon as I'll receive the mentioned book on the Rumanian Army, I'll write here a short review. Gen. Dénes |

I have the Slovak book and its not bad - however it covers almost exactly the same stuff as Germany's First Ally by Kliment & Nakkladai
http://www.schifferbooks.com/newschiffer/b...isbn=0764305891 And the schiffer book has much bettr production values and is better illustrated Cheers Bob |

I didn't receive the book yet.
As for being mentioned in the acknowledgements section, I am a bit surprised because I don't know who the author is. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on April 23, 2006 03:18 am |

I won't be in Romania until August and I was thinking of ordering it if it was worth it. I will wait for your review in May.
